female voice options - all programmed to run in a light-weight, highly portable device.
Palm's line of
handheld devices are designed to be light weight and
portable. This portability is one of the primary focuses for
MV-1000. We want MV-1000 to be your portable communication
device. The solution that you throw in your pocket and use
when you go out to a restaurant, grocery store, or a relative's
home. We are giving you the ability to eliminate the need to
lug around a heavy, complicated device. It is for this reason that
we designed MV-1000 to run on Palm OS enabled devices.
Since there is no additional software or training needed to
either use or customize our solution, you will be able to start
working with your child mere minutes after downloading the MV-1000
software.
Why MV-1000?
Easy to Use
The MV-1000 was designed with simplicity and affordability in
mind. Our software makes navigation as easy and intuitive as
possible. When there are more pictures for a given category
than will fit on a screen, use our easy to understand and touch navigation arrows to move
back and forth between pages in a given category. When a
category is chosen that has additional choices (indicated by the
upper right-hand corner being colored red), these new choices
are displayed. To return to a previous level of categories,
you can press the up arrow. You can return to the main
menu/homepage at any time by pressing the home key.
Customize the Device Yourself
The MV-1000
has many
preferences that you can set on your device such as volume control,
voice gender, and various display options.
The MV-1000 is also easily customizable.
With the MV-1000 you have hundreds of pictures to choose from to allow
you to tailor your child's device to match his/her likes/dislikes
and personality. If your child does not like bagels and will
only eat chicken, then you should be able to make your device as
usable as possible, by removing the pictures that do not apply to you
child, and including those that do. As mentioned before, the
MV-1000 has hundreds of pictures available that you
can customize right from the device. You do not need to
consult a professionally trained person or even connect the device
to your home computer.
In addition to being able to include the pictures that make the
most sense for your child, you can also choose the order in which
the pictures are displayed. We recommend that you move the
most frequently used pictures to the top of the list to make them
more accessible to your child. While you are not able to
personalize MV-1000 by adding pictures to the device yourself,
Digital Voice Technologies can personalize your MV-1000 by adding
pictures that you send us for a nominal charge. Please

The MV-1000 is Affordable
The reason that we are able to offer the MV-1000
software at such an affordable price is because we have chosen to
use Palm OS enabled devices for our speech solution. We have
determined that the most affordable way to offer a quality product
at an affordable price was for us to combine our easy-to-use speech software with existing technology to bring our
solution into your home, school, or workplace. That is why we
began using Palm handheld
devices for our hardware platform.
In addition to the lower initial cost that our
solution provides, there are no hidden costs that you need to be
concerned with. We will not try to sell you an annual service agreement
or maintenance program. In fact, we do not even offer them.
With Digital Voice Technologies and the MV-1000 solution, if your
communication device is lost or broken, you would be able to replace
the hardware for as little as $199 (assuming that you were using a Tungsten E2
handheld). You would then be able to simply restore the MV-1000 software from
the backup on your PC (see HotSync question in on
F.A.Q. page). This
whole process can be completed in a matter of hours, not weeks or
months.
The hardware (in this case the Palm Tungsten E2) is
so inexpensive, that you would need to either lose or break your
device a few times in a year before you would reach the cost of a
typical service plan.
